Über Moms Environmental Art Awareness Contest
The Contest and Purpose:
Young artists between the ages of 3-14 years old, will create their own masterpiece either in 2-D, 3-D or a performance work of art, that illustrates the message of the theme: ‘EARTH IS CALLING’.
“Our Earth is alive. Its' heart ticks, its soul cries. In this environmental art competition, young artists are asked to be the ‘voice' for our earth. As the earth has none that we can hear, we would like to see it through art. Young artists can express what the earth is feeling and thinking through their environmental art masterpiece entry.
As we wouldn’t want to ignore someone who is sick, why would we ignore our earth? It is about our connection with each other and with nature that we need to remember and nourish. We need to hear that our 'EARTH IS CALLING’ for help to survive.” Sienna Drack 12 years old.
We asked Sienna to come up with a theme for our art competition. It has been an incredibly life-changing year for them--children. With the stress of the pandemic, school closings and distance learning, communication has shifted and their voices have often gone unheard. As we begin the month of April, we’d like to pay close attention to the world, Mother Earth and what she is telling us. Über Moms want to hear the voices of the young people in this world. How do they feel about environmental protection. We want this art competition to bridge the communication gap between generations; let their voices paint a picture, sing a song, write a poem or just profess their love for our world and their purpose.
Her inspiration came from wanting to be vocal about the environment from a pre-teens perspective. She created a mind map from researching different eco themes and how she felt about what she had read. She also took into consideration her own environmental concerns and those of her peers. She believes the future of our environment is in the hands of kids as they are the future and have power to change policies and politics if they band together. She would like people to understand that although we are looking at life on other planets, we shouldn't forget about the one we are on. So that is how she came up with the idea to be the ‘voice’ for the Earth.
Here is her bio:
