Name: Theresa
Nationality: American
Profession: PhD political scientist teaching environmental issues and researching water and drought policy.
Kids: One active toddler and one on the way.
Current city of residence: Munich
Place of origin: St. Paul, Minnesota but I’ve lived in other places including California, Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska.
Places I have traveled: Too many to list, but some highlights were Mallorca, Spain for rock climbing; Sao Paulo, Brazil for a friend’s wedding; Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco (for work); and coming to Germany to meet my husband’s family (not knowing I would someday live here!)
Sports: Running, cycling, swimming, hiking, skiing and snowboarding, rock climbing, and horseback riding growing up.
Focus: Going on adventures in the mountains with my family and staying active in between commutes, travel, and work.
Favorite discipline: Trail running
Training for: The birth of my second child.
Hardest part of being a Momlete: The stroller struggle is real! This tough in-between age where my son wants to walk himself but doesn’t ride a bike. I can’t wait to go on runs where he can “pace” me on his bike.
PR: I count my post-baby times! 5K 22:55; Half marathon 1:52:21.
Favorite city to run: Boulder, Colorado because there is something for every running mood. Steep single tracks, smooth paved trails along the creek, and rolling hills.
Favorite quote: “The sun’ll come out, tomorrow...” Annie
Most surprising thing people don’t know about you: I grew up with a carpenter dad who taught me about forestry (sometimes reluctantly), but this eventually worked its way into my dissertation on forest conservation.
